              STRESS Part 2

In English, we do not pronounce each syllable with the same force. In one word, we pronounce one syllable very loudly and

all the other syllables very quietly.

e.g: economic, revision, tabulation, exploration, ambitious, grammarian, attractive

All words ending in:

'-ic', '-ion', '-ation', '-ous', '-ian' and '-ive'

STRESS FALLS ON THE SYLLABLE BEFORE THE LAST ONE.

e.g: economic = e-co-no-mic. So, '-no' is the syllable before the last one,'-mic'.

'-ic'   '-ion'   '-tion'   '-ation' '-ous' '-ian' '-ive'
